Osteopaths
Brian McCormick Bsc, DO
Mr McCormick is the principal osteopath at the Culcheth Osteopathic Practice and has been busy working as a State Registered Osteopath since 1990. He qualified at the British School of Osteopathy after a four year full-time course and, after a time working in London and the South-East of England, moved to Cheshire.

He presently runs practices from both the Culcheth Office and the Lymm Office with an easy interchange of patients from both offices. He practises mechanical osteopathy with an interest not only in spinal conditions but in peripheral joint (i.e. knees, shoulders, ankles etc.) conditions.

Jo Vale B. Ost

Jo Vale is a qualified osteopath registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC). She has recently joined Culcheth to work alongside the rest of the team.

Jo has a wealth of experience in treating a wide range of patients with various musculoskeletal problems. In particular she enjoys treating babies, children and expectant mothers. She has worked alongside experienced Osteopaths also specialising in this field as well as having first-hand experience as a mum of two young boys!

As an osteopath Jo uses both structural and cranial techniques – a particularly gentle method of treatment that enables her to treat a range of symptoms in patients of all ages. For example this type of treatment is ideal for babies as well as patients with painful chronic conditions such as arthritis or migraines amongst many other things.

Jo also has a particular interest in Yoga and Pilates, and often helps patients to manage pain, improve their mobility and enjoy a better quality of life.

Chiropody and Podiatry
Sue Thomason BSc, DPoD MChS

Sue is a HPC (Health Professions Council) registered Podiatrist and a member of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists. After qualifying from the Northern College of Chiropody in 1990 Sue joined the NHS where she continues to work part time.

During her career in the NHS Sue has been both community and hospital based, developing a special interest in the preventative care and treatment of the high risk foot and specifically wound care. Regular foot health assessments are important for people with conditions that put the feet at risk eg diabetes, rheumatologic problems or vascular disease. Early diagnosis and preventative treatments can be offered to reduce long term complications in the foot. Sue offers annual foot health assessments for the high risk foot and treatment plans to reduce the risk of any future foot problems.

Sue offers routine podiatry care including assessment and treatment of foot pathologies including nail problems, the treatment of corns and callus and the provision of devices or insoles with the aim of reducing symptoms.

Nail surgery is sometimes required for persistent ingrown toe nails. This is performed under local anaesthetic and is a permanent cure.

Biomechanical assessments include assessment of the foot and joint mobility, gait analysis and the provision of insoles to improve foot function and alleviate symptoms.

Sue appreciates that sometimes a full podiatry treatment it not necessary and nail cutting may be all that is required. . To satisfy this need, shortened appointment are available for ‘simple nail cuts’. A full assessment will be required initially to ensure this is appropriate, then reduced time/price appointments will be offered.
